Remember birthday parties when you were a kid? The delicious cake! The presents! The noise! The games and other fun activities! So many kids look forward to their birthdays each year, and with good reason: it is a time for fun and celebration! Sadly, this is not the case for homeless kids. Their birthdays are often just one more day spent worrying about what the future holds.
Luckily for us and the children here at Martha’s Village and Kitchen, we have two wonderful volunteers who visit the Children’s Services Department to make birthdays special. Every month, Frank and Sherry Encinias help the children celebrate their birthdays. They bring a beautiful birthday cake donated by Target, and birthday gifts for all of the children who celebrate their birthdays during that particular month. Frank and Sherry also sing happy birthday to each child individually, and do fun activities with them. Sherry always reads a book, and the children absolutely love it! These wonderful volunteers have been part of MVK for over two years! We are lucky to have them as part of our family, and we are grateful for all that they do.
It’s amazing to see the happiness on the faces of these children, especially since they are going through some tough times in their lives. Would you like to donate to help these special kids enjoy their birthdays? Any amount will help!YES! I want to donate to help homeless children.
