Martha’s Village and Kitchen envisions a community where all people have the opportunity to live to their full potential. A community where everyone has food, housing, healthcare, education and the means to maintain them. For the past 27 years, Martha’s has been able to help change the lives of countless men, women and children in our community. However, there is so much more work to be done and MVK could not do this work without the help of volunteers just like you! Here are 7 reasons to consider volunteering at Martha’s Village and Kitchen today.
1.) Making A Difference
Become something bigger than yourself by volunteering at Martha’s Village and Kitchen! You may or may not know, but homelessness is growing in the Coachella Valley, especially with Roy’s Desert Resource Center closing their doors. Volunteers like you, along with dedicated staff, work to help make a difference in our community. You can help the homeless, the working poor and even children by volunteering at MVK. We simply cannot help the number of people we do without our volunteers!
2.) Empower Our Youth To Make A Positive Difference In Our Community
Here at Martha’s Village and Kitchen, we encourage youth to come experience what an impact they can have by lending a helping hand. Children look up to their parents, teachers and even older siblings. By volunteering with them, you show them firsthand how volunteering makes a difference and how good it feels to help others. Volunteering with your family and friends is the perfect time to bond. Most people consider quality time with their family to be top priority. Spending time volunteering in the community as a family can bring you closer together. Call today to see how you and your loved ones can help!
3.) Gain Experience
Volunteering gives you the opportunity to learn and practice important skills used in the workplace; such as teamwork, communication, problem solving, project planning, task management, and organization. While volunteering at MVK, you can also build community service hours you might need for high school or college. After 90 hours of volunteering, you will be able to use Martha’s Village and Kitchen as a reference. Find out more about our programs and where you best fit in!
