KMIR’s Chief Meteorologist, Mike Everett, will emcee the 11th Annual Thanksgiving Day 5K benefiting Martha’s Village and Kitchen! Mike is new to the desert, but his enthusiasm and professionalism have already won him many fans. “We are so excited that Mike will be our emcee this year,” said Stephanie Minor, Executive Vice President of Martha’s Village and Kitchen. “He was gracious enough to appear in the commercial for our 5K, and he is a warm and caring person who wants to help to make a difference in the Coachella Valley. We are so grateful to KMIR for all of their support, and happy to have Mike on our 5K team this year!”
Mike joins KMIR from KRDO Colorado Springs. His career began in Central Florida, and he has a B.A. from the University of Central Florida in Radio and Television Broadcasting. Also, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Mississippi State University, and he is a member of the National Weather Association. He has covered everything from tornadoes to severe hail to hurricane force winds and deep snow. Mike is an avid outdoorsman, and he can be regularly found skiing, hiking, riding his mountain bike, playing hockey and surfing.
Race Day Details
The Thanksgiving Day 5K is a yearly tradition for many people in the Coachella Valley. It is a certified, timed race. The event is for serious runners as well as more casual runners, walkers, strollers, and even pets! The race takes place on November 23, 2017 at 8:00 AM in Palm Desert on El Paseo. Participants receive a long-sleeve, dri-fit shirt and a goody bag. Also, the festivities include a Kid’s Zone and a Beer Garden. Festival Row and Registration are located on San Pablo in between Shadow Mountain and El Paseo. Registration opens at 6:00 AM.
