Thalia Hayden is co-anchor of KMIR News weeknights at 11pm.
Thalia joined KMIR News in February 2012. Before that, she reported and anchored for WPTV in West Palm Beach, FL, News 10 NBC in Rochester, NY and WCJB in Gainesville, FL.
Before making the jump in front of the camera, Thalia spent many years behind the scenes. In fact, her first day on the job after graduating from Seton Hall University, was the same day as the September 11th attacks. She was starting as a Production Assistant at Fox 5 News in Manhattan. She says that experience helped her realize how vital the media is in our society.
Thalia has also worked in other newsrooms in New York City, and spent two years as a Casting Associate for “51 Minds Entertainment” in Los Angeles.
Thalia says she is happy to be back in California, and can’t get enough of the sun.
In her free time, Thalia enjoys being a Paul Harris Fellow Rotarian, volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert, spending time with her family and pets, and staying fit through running charity 5Ks and Bikram yoga.

Her biography says it all! Martha’s Village and Kitchen is excited to announce KMIR’s weeknight news anchor, Thalia Hayden, will emcee the 9th Annual HighTower Thanksgiving Day 5K.
Although Thalia is used to running as a competitor in charity 5Ks, this time she will be busy running around to make announcements and energize the crowd.
The Thanksgiving Day 5K is a Martha’s tradition and beloved event for many in the Coachella Valley. The event will be held on Thanksgiving morning, November 26, on El Paseo Dr. in Palm Desert. This year’s event will have two waves starting at 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.
The 2014 event was one of the most popular 5k events in the Coachella Valley and attendance continues to increase exponentially each year. We project 4,000 participants, volunteers and spectators will join in on the festivities this year. In addition to the race, we will be raffling off an iPad, Barry Manilow concert tickets, and many more amazing prizes.
Fun Times for a Good Cause
Martha’s Village and Kitchen is in its 25th year of providing homeless services in the Coachella Valley. It is the mission of Martha’s to respond to the needs of the homeless community with food, clothing, shelter and an opportunity to become self-sufficient. The free services at Martha’s touch thousands of homeless and impoverished children, families and single adults each year through primary and preventive healthcare, serving over a quarter of a million meals a year, case management, licensed free child care, mental health and recovery services, career coaching and continuing adult education, in addition to clothing, rent, and utility assistance. The Thanksgiving Day 5K is one of the largest fundraising events for Martha’s each year and the proceeds are essential in continuing to serve our neighbors in need.
