The issue of homelessness in the Coachella Valley continues to grow each and every day. More families and individuals are desperately needing food, shelter and resources to help them return to a life of self-sufficiency. The most recent Point in Time Count showed that the number of homeless people in our community has grown since last year. Martha’s Village and Kitchen is working hard in addressing homelessness in the Coachella Valley.
In the news recently, we learned that Roy’s Desert Resource Center will be closing their doors this June. This closure comes after years of them serving others. Another organization that helps support homeless here in the valley, Well in the Desert, has temporarily lost their building and are operating as a mobile unit. With the number of homeless people growing and resource centers closing or limiting services, we need to help and do more. Martha’s Village and Kitchen is working with several agencies and community partners to ensure we are able to continue supporting families and individuals in their time of need. To learn more about this topic, we have provided some of the most recent media coverage stories below.
