Thrift Store

Help Martha’s Village sell new and gently used items at our Village Store to support our programs. Please make use of your friendly customer service skills, assisting our retail personnel with finding treasures for the public, and assisting our clients in using their vouchers. All necessary COVID-19 precautions are being taken to ensure your safety and our customers.

Thrift Store Duties Include:

    • Sort, hang, and organize merchandise

    • Assist customers by answering store-related questions and complaints, notifying the manager of any concerns for resolution.

    • Answer store telephone and take messages or refer callers to the appropriate department or personnel.

    • Be alert for shoplifters and respond following established policy and procedures.

    • Assist in the routine of maintaining the cleanliness of the premises and notify the manager of any safety or health hazards

Emergency Food Pantry

Volunteers assist with sorting and packaging USDA Food Commodities and donated nonperishable food items to our neighbors in need. Will pre-packaged food items in accordance with the USDA menu guidelines provided. May also sort through donated items to check for expired or damaged items. Required to maintain an organized pantry and to properly store all food items in accordance with all food governing agency requirements. Will need to practice FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures on all stored items located at the pantry and storage areas. May need to lift or carry heavy items weighing approximately 25 pounds or more.

Administration

Help Martha’s Village with your administrative skills, such as filing, shredding, making copies, letter writing, data entry, and other related projects. Duties include projects in departments such as Development, Marketing, Finance, and general administrative support.

Food Services

Help Martha’s Village prepare all major food items for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, with techniques including, but not limited to: knife skills, steam/boil, sauté, roast, and fry, braise/stew, grill, and bake. Ensure the proper handling/storage of all food items following sanitation/health regulations. Also responsible for helping set up and break down of dining room. Volunteer cooks must consider many details during the course of a shift and demonstrate good teamwork. While performing the duties of this job, the volunteer is regularly required to use hands to hold pots, pans, equipment, or equipment controls. The volunteer is frequently required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel or crouch.

Tutu Workshop

Help Martha’s Village & Kitchen prepare for our biggest event in the fall. Every year, our Thanksgiving Day 5k tutus make their way around the course. From Children, Pets, and Adults, everyone wants to show off their colorful tutus. We would love to have your creative talents assist us with tutu production. This project is great for all ages and FUN!

Maintenance

Perform maintenance tasks such as window washing or painting. In addition, groundskeeping work is available.

Children’s Services

Volunteer Positions in Children’s Services are Currently Unavailable. Please check back at a later time.

Care for infants and young children. In addition, you can help children with their homework or lead after-school activities. Also, assist in family-oriented activities to promote family interest in reading.

Age Restrictions Apply

Emergency Services

Help staff assembles canned/ dry goods bags for impoverished families in the community. Also, maintain and organize the food pantry and provide basic client services and referrals.

Front Desk Reception

Greet and assist guests, residents, clients, and members of the community at the lobby desk. In addition, it helps to support the administration of the Emergency Pantry.
