Noe was raised in the Coachella Valley. While here in the desert he struggled and stated that he was homeless for some time. During this time he utilized the career and education center, food services and emergency services offered by Martha’s Village and Kitchen. He then decided to move to the San Francisco area where he was able to secure employment. He did well for some time, but eventually things didn’t work out. He found himself in and out of homelessness for a year before making the decision to move back to the Coachella Valley.
During his time on the streets he lost his social security card and permanent resident card. He had a hard time reapplying for both documents because he didn’t have a stable living environment.
“Martha’s has taught me some social skills for sure… and has given me food and a place to rest…”
While at Martha’s Village and Kitchen Noe was able to replace his documents. With the help of his case manager, Noe quickly obtained full time employment and purchased a vehicle to get to and from his job.
Noe stated that he has learned a lot about himself, and has had many learning experiences during his time here. Noe stated that he likes that he has his own set of responsibilities.
“It took me a while to adapt to my case manager being in my business. But I learned that having her in my business kept me on track and focused…”
His next step is to obtain an apartment. Meanwhile, Noe is working hard and has been training for new positions with his current employer. He stated that he is staying focused and taking it one step at a time. Eventually Noe wants to work on cars. Automobiles are his passion.
He is grateful and appreciative to have had food and air conditioning.
“I feel safe”- Noe C.
