Josie is another MVK client who has experienced success! Josie came to Martha’s Village & Kitchen because she was struggling to find safe, permanent housing. She quickly met with her Case Manager, and they formulated a 90-day action plan.
Josie knew that she needed to take responsibility to change her life, and at times it was hard for her, but she worked on it a little bit every day. She said, “I was overwhelmed at first with just trying to find housing, but the one quote that kept me going was, God never gives you more than you can handle.”
“God never gives you more than you can handle.”
As she worked on securing housing, Josie also improved her career skills through Martha Village & Kitchen’s Career and Education Programs. She took online typing courses and increased the number of words she can type per minute to 39. She also learned how to use Power Point and Excel. She is very proud of her accomplishments and proud of the fact that she improved her business skills.
Josie also found a lot of value in MVK’s budgeting classes. She said, “The budgeting class Martha’s offers taught me how to save up money. I saved enough to buy a new car!”
Josie worked hard and followed her plan with the help of her Case Manager. She successfully moved out of Martha’s Village & Kitchen! She looks forward to settling in to her new life, and she eventually wants to come back and volunteer at MVK.
She said:
“I plan on coming back to Martha’s and volunteering, so that I can give back for what they have done for me. One thing that sticks with me most about Martha’s is the staff, and how helpful and dedicated they all are to helping people.”
