Time for Change
“I remember my first day, it was a challenge and a huge adjustment for me and my kids,” said Elizabeth in the first sentence of her departing letter to Martha’s.
At Martha’s Village and Kitchen, Elizabeth was given the opportunity to receive classes on Challenge to Change, recovery meetings, guided job search and was provided three meals a day for her and her children. Elizabeth made the best of everything Martha’s had to offer and was able to work on changing her life while still meeting the needs of her family:
“It was hard for me, I can admit, being that I had to attend the GAIN program, take and pick up my kids from school along with my youngest attending daycare.”
Elizabeth’s Success
Elizabeth dedicated herself to job searching and secured full-time employment. Soon after starting her job, Elizabeth was approved for her apartment. The family has recently exited Martha’s transitional housing program into a three bedroom apartment of their own.
“I want to start off by thanking Martha’s Village and Kitchen for the help you gave me and my family in our time of need. I wouldn’t even know where we might have been without you. – Thank you, Elizabeth.”
