On March 11, 2025, Martha’s Village & Kitchen celebrated the groundbreaking of its Child Development Center expansion, nearly doubling its capacity from 55 to 102 children. This initiative aims to provide more families with quality early education and childcare, ensuring parents don’t have to choose between financial stability and their child’s well-being.
CEO Sam Hollenbeck emphasized the expansion’s impact, stating, “By adding those extra 47 seats, more families get to choose quality daycare.” With 50-60 children staying at the shelter daily, the need for accessible childcare is greater than ever.
The center, serving children from six weeks to five years old, follows The Creative Curriculum©, a research-backed program preparing kids for school success. Funded by organizations like the Riverside County Office of Education and United Way of the Desert, the expansion continues Martha’s mission of breaking the cycle of homelessness by supporting both children and parents on their path to stability.
