There is little else that can make us happier than seeing a child walking through the halls of Martha’s with a smile on their face.
Homeless families with children are a large part of the people we support at Martha’s Village and Kitchen. We help feed, clothe, and care for our littlest neighbors in need.
Unfortunately, there are a number of homeless children in Coachella Valley – most of which do not have clean clothes, a safe shelter, food, and water to drink on a daily basis. At Martha’s, it is our job to care for these homeless children, and provide them with the loving support they deserve.
Because our children are so important to us at Martha’s, we have put together a list of 5 ways you can help the homeless children in Coachella Valley right now.
1. Sign Up to Volunteer at Children’s Services
Signing up to volunteer is just one of many ways you can help homeless children right now. Our Children’s Services Center cares for children of families in crisis who live in the Residential Village at Martha’s, as well as children who are living in shelters, on the street, transitioning out of homeless shelters, children of teen parents, and children with special needs.
Our team of new and returning volunteers care for the children as their parents take the important steps towards self-sufficiency. We welcome new volunteers everyday, and are excited to meet each and every one of you. 2. Donate Toys or Children’s Clothing to the Thrift Store
If you have children of your own, its likely that you are constantly having to buy new clothes and shoes as they quickly outgrow their current wardrobe. Kids grow so fast!
Because children are always in need of new clothes and toys, we are always looking for donations of slightly used or new clothing and toys for children at our Thrift Store. All donations to our Thrift Store benefit Martha’s Village and Kitchen, and help to support our children.

3. Sponsor a Food Drive
While it may not seem like an obvious way to benefit the children, sponsoring a food drive at work, in your neighborhood, or with your friends can help support the children at Martha’s. All food donated to Martha’s Village and Kitchen through sponsoring a food drive helps to support the homeless community and our less fortunate neighbors in need- including the children and their parents.

4. Donate School Supplies
Can you imagine getting dozens of children ready for school each August? Well, we can…
It’s a challenge to get one child ready for the school year – they need to be fed, clothed, and equipped with the proper school supplies for success. Each summer, we begin prepping for our children to go to school, and a big part of this includes purchasing the required school supplies. As you can imagine, this equates to quite a few pens, pencils, and packages of construction paper.
If you’d like to donate school supplies for our children, please contact us today, or just swing by and drop them off!
