Here is an example neighbors getting together to help neighbors who are truly in need. To help the migrant workers housed in a run-down trailer park next to a dump site in Mecca, CA, Martha's Village & Kitchen works with Sacred Heart Church, Palm Desert, to coordinate and stage the monthly assembling and distribution of approx. 550 boxes of donated food.
Over 50 volunteers and many of Martha's Village & Kitchen staff gather in the MV&K warehouse parking lot each month to put the 550 boxes together, fill them with donated food and stack them on pallets for delivery two days later.
This month’s delivery will take place today, Nov. 18, 2009 at 4:00 pm.
The monthly food distribution to the trailer park will continue through the end of the year.
