Partner Spotlight: KC’s 23 ½ Hour Plumbing
KC’s 23 1/2 Hour Plumbing is a full-service plumbing contractor that services and installs complete plumbing systems, providing complete residential and commercial plumbing services to the Coachella Valley for the last 30 years. It’s a nice story about a successful and well-liked small business, but company president Kelly Russum had a greater plan and it started with a plumbing truck.
People out there in the community are hungry and these plumbing trucks, in radio contact at all times, are already out on the road. Wouldn’t it be great to launch a year-round mobile food drive?
To be successful, it would have to be easy for people to donate food, so all anyone has to do is call KC’s at 760.327.8718 for a pick-up. The company’s existing customers can simply give food to KC's plumbing technicians when they place a service call, or people can drop off non-perishable food at the company’s corporate office at 702 Eugene Road in Palm Springs, California, 92264.
“Our goal is to make feeding the community as easy as possible,” adds Kelly. “For instance, if a person sees one of our service trucks, they can simply [walk up] and give the driver some food. It’s that easy.”
Easy for the donor, but not so easy for the staff at KC’s, who have collected over five tons of food for Martha’s Village & Kitchen since the beginning of January 2012. The food is sorted and boxed up and ready to go when our delivery drivers arrive, making it easy for Martha’s to distribute that food to working families that are struggling to get by.
Kelly’s so enthusiastic about his mission to feed the hungry, you can hear it in his voice throughout the company’s latest radio commercial…
We thank Kelly and the whole staff at KC’s 23 ½ Hour Plumbing for their hard work and dedication to helping others. For more information, visit the company’s website at: http://www.kcs23.com
Partner Spotlight: Mathis Brothers Furniture
Mathis Brothers Furniture has been making an important contribution to the lives of the needy since they first opened their store in Indio. When you drop off toys at Mathis Brothers this holiday season, those toys go directly to the children who live at Martha’s Village & Kitchen.
Our kids have had far too much to worry about in their young lives—knowing where they'll spend the next night, or get their next meal—to have to wonder if they're going to have a Christmas too. That's why this toy drive is so important.
Collecting toys isn't the only way Mathis Brothers helps Martha's throughout the year, though. They also collect mountains of non-perishable food for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, helping us serve hot meals to the public as well as filling out food boxes we provide to housed families struggling to make ends meet. We're also very grateful that the company has been an important sponsor of our Thanksgiving Day 5K for years.
We hope that you'll stop by the Mathis Brothers furniture showroom in Indio with a new, unwrapped toy for a girl or a boy. While you're there, let the staff there know how glad we are that they're helping us change lives in the Coachella Valley.
Ralphs and Food 4 Less Cash Back Program Gives Back
Martha’s Village & Kitchen has teamed up with Ralphs and Food 4 Less in a program that sends cash to us whenever you use your Rewards Card to make a purchase. Simply designate Martha’s as your charity, and then use your Rewards Card when you do your shopping. Ralphs and Food 4 Less write us a check based on how much you buy. That’s it. No strings attached.
And now we've made it even easier to connect your Ralph's or Food 4 Less Rewards cards to Martha's. Simply download and print this letter from Ralph's or this letter from Food 4 Less and take it with you when you shop. At checkout, scan your Rewards card and the barcode on the bottom of the letter. It couldn't be easier to help your friends and neighbors in need!
Help End Hunger!
When you donate non-perishable food to Martha's Village & Kitchen, you help us feed one of the 35,000 people who come through our doors for help each year. When you join with your civic group to start a food drive, you help feed entire communities!
Head over to our Food Drive page to find out how you can help.
Thank You!
We've received a generous grant from The S.L. Gimbel Foundation Fund, a component fund at The Community Foundation serving Riverside & San Bernardino Counties, and we couldn't be more excited. The fund has provided $6,612 for our Food Services program to purchase commodities like fruit, vegetables, meat, canned food, flour, sugar and milk so that we can continue to feed our neighbors in need balanced, nutritious meals every single day. We thank the The S.L. Gimbel Foundation Fund for helping to ensure that those less fortunate in our community are well-nourished during these tough economic times.
