With the increasing population of the Coachella Valley and rising housing prices, the neighbors in need who rely on Martha’s Village & Kitchen continue to grow. In March 2007, Martha's Village opened a year-round Emergency Shelter, a tent-like structure with 100 beds to provide a safe and stable environment during extreme weather conditions and throughout the year.
Resources provided at the Emergency Shelter enable homeless neighbors in need to work toward breaking the cycle of homelessness. |
The Emergency Shelter:
- Houses 70 single adult males, 23 single adult females and 7 family members on any given day.
- Provides intake by a staff member for each new or returning neighbor in need and a review of the client handbook.
- Has supportive staff available 24 hours a day who promote transition to our transitional housing program and higher standards of living.
- Furnishes clean linens, blankets, hygiene and infant supplies, laundry services and a bed or cot for each neighbor in need.
- Offers access to the Village’s onsite medical clinic, meals, Career & Education Center,
and Children’s Services programs.
MISSION:
Our mission is to assist clients in regaining independence by providing a stable living environment, guidance and referrals to appropriate resources that support them in reaching their self-sufficiency goals. |

Our Emergency Shelter operates year-round. |
